Indigenous Knowledge – The Salmon and the Cedar

Discover the sophistication and art of the peoples of Canada’s Pacific Coast through an interactive presentation designed to illustrate the lifestyle of a coastal society, with an emphasis on social hierarchy and mythological art. The presentation is followed by a storytelling session and a workshop where students create a painted artwork. This activity is ideal for the West Coast theme in Grade 5 and as an introduction to the diversity of Indigenous peoples.
